Covid-19 questions

Here is a useful link explaining what you can do to slow the spread of the virus, what symptoms to look out for and the latest updates from the Ministry of Health: https://covid19.govt.nz/

The symptoms of COVID-19 are:

• a fever (at least 38°C)

• a cough

• shortness of breath

• sneezing or runny nose.

These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have COVID-19. The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as colds and flu.

Please do not come to school if you are feeling unwell.

If you test positive for Covid-19, you have to self-isolate for 5 days. Day 0 is the day your symptoms started or when you tested positive, whichever came first. NZLC will excuse your absence for up to 7 school days without a doctor’s certificate. Please contact studentservices@nzlc.ac.nz to have your absence excused or if you need help making a doctor’s appointment.

We encourage anyone who have recently arrived in New Zealand to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) if they have the following  symptoms :

  • a fever (at least 38°C)
  • a cough
  • shortness of breath
  • sneezing or runny nose.

If you need more RATs, or you did not collect any on your arrival into New Zealand, you can pick them up from a collection site or have someone collect it on your behalf. You do not need to pre-order.

Your testing kit has instructions on how to use them. If your pack does not include instructions, visit the Ministry of Health website for advice on how to do the test.

New Zealand has reciprocal health agreements with Australia and the United Kingdom (UK). Citizens and permanent residents of Australia and UK citizens can get the same publicly funded healthcare as New Zealand. This includes free COVID-19 antiviral medicines for eligible people.
