• Foundation member of English New Zealand– a guarantee of quality standards.
Member schools must meet the current English New Zealand Standards in addition to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) requirements for registration and accreditation.
The Standards assess:
1. staffing, employment and professional development (including teaching
2. qualifications and experience)
3. curriculum and course delivery
4. the student experience: facilities, resources and support
5. governance and management
6. promotion and student recruitment
The English New Zealand Standards cover academic and management criteria, and members must employ teachers with specialist TESOL qualifications and experience.
Regular audits and random spot checks of member schools ensure quality are maintained.
• Authorised TESOL English Teacher Training Centre
NZLC has an English Teacher Training department for both native (CELTA) and non-native English speakers (TESOL and TECSOL with TKT preparation) to become professional English teachers.
NZLC Auckland is an approved CELTA training centre as well as a Cambridge TKT Testing Centre, authorised by Cambridge Assessment English.
As an authorised centre, we maintain highly qualified, experienced staff and well-resourced facilities as required by Cambridge. Our trainers are standardised by Cambridge and one of their assessors inspects each course, to ensure that their high standards are maintained at all times.
• Cambridge TKT Testing Centre
NZLC has been approved by Cambridge Assessment English to conduct TESOL and TECSOL Teaching Knowledge Tests (TKT) onsite.
• IELTS Pre-Testing Centre.
NZLC is an approved IELTS pretesting centre and runs IELTS pre-tests four times a year. This gives our students the opportunity to practise taking an IELTS listening, reading and writing test using real questions under exam conditions. Students are given scores for their tests and a real IELTS examiner marks their writing.
