Become a host family
Are you interested in becoming a host family for NZLC?
Hosting an international student can be a very enriching experience for all involved. We have students studying at our schools from all over the world including Latin America, Europe, Russia, South East Asia, French Polynesia, Japan and South Korea. Students stay anywhere from 1 week to a year so there are opportunities for short-term and long-term homestays.

What do some of our current families say about their experience hosting students?
Scammel Family - NZLC Auckland host family
Having had students from NZLC for around 10 years it is still a pleasure when a new student comes to stay from the school. It is an exciting time as we get to know about them, their country and customs and welcoming them into our family, home and country.
The School always takes great care of the students and they all enjoy their time learning in a fun and happy environment.
Family meal time in the evening is the best time for us all to discuss our days and we hear how the students have done that day, what new words or sentences they have learned and what new nationalities they have met and talked to.
We look forward to hosting students for many more years with NZLC.
Datson Family - NZLC Wellington
Our family of 2 adults and 3 children have hosted homestay students for 10 years now. We enjoy sharing our home and the Kiwi lifestyle with overseas students and our family benefit also by learning about other cultures.
We have made fabulous friends with our students and keep in contact with many and have also visited and stayed with some in Europe. Other students have visited and stayed with us years after their first stay to say "Hi".
A homestay is much more personal than staying alone in an apartment and it is much better for learning English and building confidence in speaking English.
Trish and Bill Wallace - NZLC Wellington
We have been hosting International Students for many many years now, and really enjoy having them in our home.
We also like to show them the sights of Wellington and interesting places they can visit whilst in Wellington.
We have lots of photos of our students framed around our lounge, and our grand-children love asking us" which student was this one Nana"?
We would like to continue hosting overseas students as we think being in a homestay environment helps the students enormously with learning English and we can also help them correct their grammar when necessary.
