Have you ever thought about being an English teacher?
Are you already an English teacher but looking to gain another international recognized qualification and broaden your career opportunities?
Then the NZLC TESOL course is the perfect course for you!
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a five week course for non-native English speakers which equips students with all the knowledge and skills to teach English as a second language to adult learners.
Topics covered include: classroom management, how to effectively teach grammar, listening, vocabulary and more, different learners’ styles, phonology, effective lesson planning, ideas for games and speaking activities in the classroom, how to give constructive feedback and much more!
During weeks 2, 3 and 4 trainees practise by teaching on their classmates and in the last week, they actually test their skills by teaching a lesson to real volunteer students!
The TESOL course runs every 10 weeks at NZLC Auckland and you can see dates here. TESOL classes have a maximum of 12 students meaning that the trainees get plenty of opportunities to get one-on-one feedback from our highly qualified and experienced teacher trainers.
At the end of the course, trainees sit their TKT (Teacher Knowledge Test) and receive their personalized certificate from Cambridge University so you will be ready to impress future employers with your English skills or embark on an exciting teaching career!
Shoko studied 5 weeks General English followed by 5 weeks in our April 2016 TESOL course and here’s what she had to say about the course:
“I really enjoyed the 5 week TESOL course. At the beginning, I was worried and nervous because I’d never taught English before and I'm shy. The 5 weeks were really busy and we had to prepare our lessons but my classmates are awesome and supportive! We helped each other every day and in the final week I taught real NZLC students! It was an amazing experience!”
