Rugby is something very close to New Zealand's heart. The Rugby 7s is a two day tournament held every year in Wellington. In rugby 7s, also known as seven-a-side, the teams are made up of seven players instead of the usual 15. The matches are also shorter.
The tournaments have more of a relaxed atmosphere and are often known as "festivals". Fans attend in costumes...and for many who participate, it's often more about the partying than watching the rugby!
NZLC Wellington students had a "sevens costume city walk" on Friday for the first day of the tournament. They embraced the spirit of the annual 7's event and dressed up as minion's. They had great fun taking in the atmosphere and bumping into locals also dressed up in costume for the event.
