Studying in New Zealand offers students the opportunity to gain a qualification in one of the world’s best places to live and study. NZ is renowned for providing quality education, and international students who graduate from New Zealand’s education environment are gaining an excellent reputation among potential employers around the world!
NZLC pathway programmes are designed for students who want to start their New Zealand education journey by improving their English skills and then going on to further study by taking a higher education (tertiary) or technical (vocational) course. NZLC has established agreements which allow students to have direct entry into partner institutions without doing the IELTS test. If you have been studying an IELTS course at NZLC for a minimum of five weeks and reach the necessary English level, you can start your pathway programme application process. Depending on the course, you may also need to provide academic transcripts and possible work experience from your country too.
These pathway courses can give students like you the chance to find a job and even gain residency in New Zealand or can be an impressive qualification on your CV back in your home country leading to success in your dream job!
NZLC partners offer a variety of certificates and diplomas in areas such as Digital Design, Travel & Tourism Management, Hospitality & Cookery and even Landscape Design, which is what NZLC student Laura Paleaz started studying in March, 2015.
Laura finished her degree in Interior Design in Colombia and came to NZLC in June 2014 on a six month student visa + 20 hour / week work permit. She started in the General English Upper Intermediate class and quickly moved to the Advanced class before doing a five week Business Course and finally moving to the NZLC IELTS preparation course.
Laura says the NZLC IELTS course has prepared her very well for her diploma. Her English has improved immensely since she came to NZ six months ago and she feels confident to now go ahead and study alongside native English speakers.
During Laura’s Unitec application process, her NZLC teachers helped her greatly by supporting her, offering advice and even putting her in touch with contacts who might be able to offer her work or help her advance her career.
Laura says she chose New Zealand because she had heard about the excellent quality of the education system and although she never really knew much about NZ, after watching a short video of the country, she was convinced it was the right place for her! The excellent quality of life and unique natural environment were everything Laura was looking for!
On her Student Visa + Work Permit, Laura was able to find a job in Auckland within two weeks of starting her job search. She moved in with an NZLC homestay family in June 2014 and will stay with them while she studies at Unitec too. “They’re amazing. I really love them!” she says.
We are very proud of you Laura and wish you all the best of luck in your course and future career!
