Jandal Day 2014

Surf Life Saving Appeal

National Jandal Day celebrates the commitment volunteer lifeguards have to keeping New Zealand beaches safe. Every summer, New Zealand lifeguards work hard to save people from drowning.

NZLC Wellington put on a bake sale for the day. Between the two campuses, we raised over $150. These funds all go towards Surf Life Saving.

Thank you to everyone who showed their support by either wearing jandals, making a donation or baking some yummy treats!

Which New Zealand beaches have you been to?

White sand on the east coast, black sand on the west, New Zealand is full of beautiful beaches. Many of them are spectacular surf beaches and are known for their powerful waves so it’s important to always swim between the flags. There are lifeguards that patrol the area between the flags to make sure everyone is safe. You can find a list of beaches patrolled by lifeguards here.
